Well I am Jeremy's and Dan's father. When reading the Blog you understand real quickly that it is not about me but it is about life and the desire and want to live. It is about family, friends business associates and everyone who has stopped by for a moment in my life. The all have one dream and that is to help me and therefore help anyone else who has the disease and may have the chance through AZD 6244 to get better.
I am looking to share my story with others who have taken or are about to take the drug with the same hopes and dreams as I have. Since it is only day 2 of course there are no results yet but at least I can say the first 4 treatments have gone well. The taste of the drug is fine and the process is easy to do. So far so good. I visualize with every sip of the drug that as it is going down the cancer cells are eating it up and dying off as if the were leaves on a tree as winter arrives or as I say to my wife a Pac Man game eating away at the enemy.
I will on a daily basis keep who ever reads this informed. I hope others will join me, we can all grow from the experience as well as help others.
I look forward to tomorrow more than ever before. See you then.

Can you mention a little about what steps you had to go through (medically speaking) to get to this point of receiving the AZD6244 treatment?
Mark,
My husband came across your blog yesterday. I read all of it and feel a need to respond.
I, like you, have always been healthy, and then out of no where I have melanoma, phase IV.
I was just notified yesterday that the randomization has selected me for treatment with AZD 6244. I will be starting Tuesday morning. Truthfully, I am nervous, but I found your comments very encouraging. I particulary enjoyed your analogy to Pac man.
I live in South Florida, and my doctor is with Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami.
I do have a few questions for you. It is my undertanding that after taking the drug, they rinse the bottle and you drink the rinse (twice.) I was wondering what you are using for the rinse? I was told that I can use water and any juice except for grapefruit and cranberry.
The other question is have you had any side effects?
I know that the at least half the battle if not more is in a positive attitude. I have so many friends and family rooting for me that I can't be anything else but encouraged and hopeful.
I look forward to hearing from you and wish you the very best!
Gilda
Hi Mark,
I found your description of your visualization perfect. Just know that with every sip you have so many people behind you picturing those rotten stinkin cells being beaten up! Go get em!!
Love,
Karen
gilda,
I am so glad you responded. It kind of feels like I just landed on a new planet and I met someone I know.
I use Poland Spring Water to do the second and third rinse. I do not find the taste at all bad to the drink. Maybe I think it is just another way to test how tough I am. I am in my 6 th day with no side effects. I am due bask at Sloan tomorrow for another full day of testing. If you would like
and would rather speak to me off line you cam e mail me at Runningbrookml@aol.com. If you prefer you can of course keep it at the blogg. Either way I welcome the reply. We are not alone and I am sure more of the particpants will join in.
Regards
mark
